Along with the Lotus 79, this car model was originally made by Exin in Spain who parted company with Hornby Hobbies around 1981 but still shared some of their product catalogue between each other. The BT46 was not one of these cars so remained hard to find for UK fans. The tooling was also shared with the ‘Scalextric’ factory in Mexico and produced there for that home market.
In 2023, Hornby Hobbies released the Brabham BT46 with a working turbo fan at the rear driven by the motor shaft.
